Terence Watts

Terence Watts is the creator of BWRT®. After entering private practice in 1989, following careers in electronics engineering and computer programming, he accumulated more than 35,000 hours of clinical experience while developing innovative approaches to psychological therapy. BWRT®, conceived in 2011 and formally introduced in 2013, is regarded as his most significant professional achievement.

Throughout his career, Terence has authored numerous professional books, developed specialist training programs, and presented internationally. In 2007, he became the first person from a psychotherapy-related profession to receive the Member of the City & Guilds Institute designation for his work in specialist therapy education. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health, and a Freeman of the City of London. He continues to contribute to the refinement of BWRT® training and clinical protocols.

Rafiq Lockhat

Rafiq Lockhat became involved with BWRT® in 2014 and went on to become Terence Watts' exclusive research partner. He has contributed to the clinical development, refinement, and international expansion of the model, including its adaptation to South Africa's multicultural and trauma-related clinical context.

As Founder and CEO of BrainWorking Recursive Therapy® South Africa (BWRT® South Africa), Rafiq has personally trained more than 2,800 registered mental health practitioners. His training work has included police, military, correctional, university, and other public-sector services. His international collaboration also includes work with the University of Bergen in Norway evaluating BWRT® as a brief intervention for post-traumatic stress disorder.
