Door-Prize Terms

Sponsor: BWRT® Canada. No purchase is necessary to enter or win.

1. Eligibility

The prize draws are open to individuals who are at least 18 years old and attend the applicable Edmonton or Calgary First Responder Symposium. Representatives of BWRT® Canada and members of their immediate household are not eligible. One entry is permitted per person per event.

2. Entry periods

  • Edmonton: Entries open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 4:00 p.m. MT on September 23, 2026. The draw will take place within two business days after entries close.
  • Calgary: Entries open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 5:00 p.m. MT on October 1, 2026. The draw will take place within two business days after entries close.

All times are Mountain Time. Entries received after the applicable closing time will not be included in that event’s draw.

3. Prizes

At each event, BWRT® Canada will award:

  • one $50 CAD Starbucks eGift Card; and
  • one $250 CAD BWRT® Professional Development Credit.

The approximate total prize value at each event is $300 CAD. Starbucks is not a sponsor of, affiliated with, or responsible for these prize draws. Starbucks gift-card terms apply.

4. Selection and notification

Potential winners will be selected randomly from eligible entries received for the applicable event. The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. Potential winners will be contacted using the email address provided and must respond within 72 hours. Before a prize is awarded, the potential winner must correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, does not respond within 72 hours, does not satisfy the applicable eligibility requirements, or answers the skill-testing question incorrectly, another eligible entrant may be selected.

5. One prize per person

A maximum of one prize may be awarded to the same person at each event. If the same entrant is initially selected for both prizes, and that entrant is eligible for the Professional Development Credit, the entrant will be offered the Professional Development Credit and another eligible entrant will be selected for the Starbucks eGift Card.

6. Professional Development Credit

The Professional Development Credit is conditional upon the winner meeting the published eligibility and professional liability insurance requirements for BWRT® Level 1 training. Eligibility will be verified before the prize is awarded. If eligibility cannot be confirmed, another eligible entrant will be selected. Current eligibility information is available at bwrt-canada.ca/training.

The $250 CAD credit:

  • may be applied to one BWRT® Canada Level 1 training course;
  • must be redeemed within 12 months of the winner-notification date;
  • is for one-time use, non-transferable, and not redeemable for cash;
  • cannot be combined with early-bird, group, or other promotional discounts;
  • has no residual cash value, and any unused portion is forfeited;
  • does not guarantee admission, eligibility, or a reserved course place; and
  • is subject to course availability and the applicable registration terms.

The winner remains responsible for the remaining tuition, applicable taxes, travel, accommodation, and other related expenses. If BWRT® Canada does not offer an eligible Level 1 course during the original redemption period, BWRT® Canada may extend the expiry date.

7. Privacy and communications

Personal information is collected to administer the prize draws and contact potential winners. Consent to receive future BWRT® Canada updates is optional and is not a condition of entry. Contest-only information will ordinarily be retained for up to 90 days after the applicable prizes are awarded, unless longer retention is reasonably required for legal, accounting, dispute-resolution, or record-keeping purposes. Information is handled in accordance with the BWRT® Canada Privacy Policy.

8. General

BWRT® Canada may disqualify entries that are incomplete, duplicated, automated, fraudulent, or otherwise inconsistent with these terms. BWRT® Canada may amend, suspend, or cancel a draw if circumstances beyond its reasonable control affect the fair or proper administration of the draw, subject to applicable law. By entering, participants agree to these terms.
